This hidden treasure is located next door to St. Gerard Majella Church at 316 Terryville Road in Port Jefferson Station. The prices are very low, the shop is beautifully maintained and organized and the feel is as if you are entering a boutique, not your typical Thrift Shop.
Our Barn which has two levels, features furniture, antiques, books, toys, sports equipment, and much more. We have 40 women and 10 men whose volunteer work there is clearly a labor of love. The true gift of our thrift shop/barn is not the money it generates to help the Church, it’s the giving back to the community. Local churches are able to inform their parishioners that if they qualify they may come to us and we will provide furniture and clothing at no cost.
One woman was so touched that we gave her a dresser for her baby that she came back the following day with a tray of brownies for our volunteers. Every Thursday evening we send over a half dozen large bins filled with clothing to the needy at our Stewardship Supper. Some guests are not interested in the dinner just the clothing that they are able to take. Nothing is wasted; the clothing that is not suitable to sell or give away is gladly accepted by St. Vincent de Paul.
We hosted free Prom Dress Nights and were able to store over 200 prom dresses which were given to teens in need. One woman stopped by and told us she always wanted to have a daughter but it wasn’t in God’s plan for her and so she presented us with a check so that a girl could be blessed with a new dress.
Every June, the thrift store volunteers organize a ladies tea. It is always sold out months in advance and over 200 women show up each year with their hats on ready to enjoy a fabulous lunch. Our Knights of Columbus assist us by setting up and our teens serve the guests.
We are open Monday through Friday from 10am - 4pm and Saturdays from 10am - 2pm.
Your donations are greatly appreciated. If you have furniture that you would like to donate please call Rob at Church 631-473-2900 and he will be happy to pick it up.
Perhaps you would like to donate some time in our Thrift Shop or Barn if so call Faye at the number above. It is so much more than a store it is a blessing in so many ways. In closing we ask you that you pray for its continued success.
