Virtus Training

In June of 2004, the staff and the volunteers of St. Gerard came together to help make the Parish Center a safe place for our children. The way we did this was by participating in a background security check. As of today over 400 people, including staff, have had security clearance. In our continuing vigilance to keep everyone that enters the Parish safe, every new volunteer that comes through our doors automatically fills out a background clearance form. Although Teens do not have to be cleared, if they work with children they are required to sign a code of conduct form.

The staff and many of our volunteers have also attended Virtus Training this is a program that teaches people how to recognize the signs of abuse and how to prevent abuse of children. We strongly encourage all of our volunteers to attend one of the session's that is run by the Diocese throughout the year. If you would be interested in attending one of these session's call the office of Christian Formation 928-2550 and they can give you the date's ,time and place where the session will be held. We here at St. Gerard take the safety of our children very seriously!
